Bacon: The Barter Currency of the Future?
Every once in a while a company comes along and tries to cash in on bartering as a means of spreading the word about what they’ve got. Some of them have done well, some have flopped. The most recent example I can think of is the Groupon attempt…
The newest comes from our friends at Oscar Meyer –> Kraft –> Berkshire Hathaway. Bacon Barter. It’s getting traction in every city it comes through. How does it work? If you have something you’d like to trade for a “brick” of bacon, it’s all yours. You can even get bacon just for singing a song with the guy in the truck. If you have a mansion, you put them up for a night and you get 250 “bricks” of bacon. Sounds like a good deal to me.
We wish them well, and hope they bring more and more good PR to the barter industry in general.
