Active International Adds Three to the Board of Directors


Active International announced today the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors – Deborah Fine, Steve Sommer and Alan Brown.

Deborah Fine joins the Board as a highly accomplished executive and proven CEO with significant experience in the consumer, media and retail sectors, as well as a strong track record of establishing successful external partnerships. Fine’s executive history includes CEO of Direct Brands, the largest member-based retailer for media products in the U.S., President of iVillage Properties at NBCU, where she led the world’s first and largest online community for women, and CEO of Victoria’s Secret PINK, where she led the development of the company’s digital strategy.

Prior to starting his own consulting firm in 2010, Steve Sommer was most recently the senior vice president of planning and strategy for the ABC Television Network and ABC Studios. His 24-year long career with ABC also included lead finance & accounting positions at ABC Sports, ABC News and ABC National TV Sales, as well as the position of vice president & controller for the ABC Television Network. While at the ABC Television Network, Sommer led the development and execution of innovative barter initiatives, resulting in significant incremental operating income for the network. Sommer also serves as a board member of the American Broadcast Employees Federal Credit Union.

Alan Brown, president of Active International Holdings and principle of Active International, joined the firm in 1988. Today, he is directly responsible for global strategic development as well as strategic oversight of Active’s domestic and international media and non-media trading products, models and strategic partnerships. Known for his innovation and creativity, Brown has developed trading programs and products that have become industry standards.
