I dug this up via Twitter this morning, “I have been thinking about the long term approach to community exchanges and how they could work in a large city on the same scale as they work in smaller communities. I have come up with several ideas; tell me what you think.
First: Operate like a Credit Union

- File for and receive Non-Profit status
- Open a main office
- Place Kiosks in malls stores etc..
- Open branch locations around town

These steps would encourage growth by making it easy and accessible and it would create a sense of “normalcy” for those who have never heard of or seen anything about your operation.”

The author goes on to lead a discussion about software, ATM style transaction machines, physical branches like you would see banks opening, and mirroring a credit union approach to growth.

Where is the barter industry in all this? When is a barter exchange going to attempt to incorporate the community currency model in the barter mix?
