Trade School, the NYC based barter school, is starting to create some internet buzz in order to get enough funds ($9,000) to reopen the school this summer. The premise of the school is to trade with the instructors for classes by bringing something on that instructor’s want list.

According to their listing on kickstarter.com, “Starting in September, 2010, we want to open Trade School again. Many people asked us to continue Trade School, but we need help! If we raise $9,000 or more, we can pay for the materials that cannot be salvaged. We can also give some money to a Trade School coordinator who fields class proposals, schedules classes with teachers, and is responsible opening and closing the space.”

If the average barter broker applied half as much creativity to recruiting new members as this NYC trade school…their biggest problem would be finding enough help to fill out the paper work….from new sign ups.

This an excellent example of spinning barter and presenting it in a way that makes sense to many…something the industry refuses to do because that’s “not the way they always heard it should be.”

This concept by the Trade School also capitalizes on one of the hottest trends out there…CROWD FUNDING of which Kick Starter is one of the better platforms.

    • Vince, we’re still waiting to hear what kind of traders you are recruiting…quality is always better than quantity.

Tyler, your response implies that you have ever asked me the question to begin with….which you haven’t.

        With that said….

Would love the opportunity to answer your question in great detail….if in fact you’d publish it?

Better yet….why not be a guest on my next BTR show and I can answer your question in front of the entire barter world LIVE on the air………and will be more then happy to discuss your site as well….as I think it’s positive for the industry.

Considering you would appear to be the future industry medium…..seems like it would be something beneficial to the trade world- and who knows…I might even be able to hold my own with you.

Let me know. You got my email.

Continued success 2 U….I enjoy your site.

FYI…… there is much the industry could learn from an outsider like me in terms of leveraging their time in regards to recruiting new members….with techniques this industry has never used.

But I guess that depends on whether the industry that has done it the same way forever….welcomes new ideas that actually work.

Critics, cynics and naysayers are always good motivation. Fact is, I have very quality product that brings fresh blood into the industry…and Barter Arbitrage continues to sell very well despite the fact everyone told me I was wasting my time in the beginning.

        They aren’t laughing now.

I also know how to score clients like shooting fish in a barrel….and I am definitely no barter broker.

Maybe that’s a good thing. Maybe my techniques are something a few progressive brokers will be willing to look at….because they actually work…and because the results can be rather devastating when applied correctly.

Word on the street? I’m pretty good at what I do.

And my students do a pretty damn good volume of trading…especially considering your industry would NEVER have targeted them to begin with.

        But that’s another story.

        Best Wishes:

Must have missed that. I appreciate the link reminder..and I went ahead and responded.

Appreciate your willingness to debate the state of Barter….because I think the industry will benefit…from a real discussion from two dudes who love this industry…but have different spins respectively.

So with that said…”anytime”……is Sunday April 11th…9pm Eastern time.

    Let’s get ready to rumble.
