A new Colorado barter club, created by a chiropractor in the Pueblo area, aspires to save local businesses enough money to create a thousand jobs.

Hunter said he hopes to enlist at least 1,000 members — and that the savings realizes through bartering will enable each business to hire at least one new employee.

“The Pueblo community has been very good to me and my family, and this is my opportunity to give back,” he said.

The barter club meets for monthly “mixers” that are networking as well as social events. Hunter said he also plans to begin offering speaker meetings soon.

The next meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fifth and Main Espresso Bar in the Federal Building, Fifth and Main streets.
