Coolswop is a Thai internet barter website that is following the same vein as BarterQuest and U-Swap.
Remember back in grade school when your mom put an apple in your lunch but you really wanted a banana so you traded it with your friend? Coolswop.com is based on that model, allowing users to barter with each other for goods and services rather than sell them.
The site was created by Fat Radio DJ Wararit Mangkalanont. It went live earlier this year and has grown into a huge forum visitied by thousands of Bangkokians a day looking to trade everything from luxury purses, watches and toys to photography services and Japanese lessons.
We even found a 1970 Mercedes Benz on there.
Unfortunately for those who can’t read Thai the site doesn’t have an English version but it’s definitely worth getting a Thai-speaking friend to help you out if you’ve got something to swap.
And though we have our doubts anyone in their right mind would actually trade their MacBook for a puppy, check out the adorable video above that outlines the main philosophy of Coolswop.com. For more on the marketing challenges and some first-hand experiences with the site, click here.
